Jongin has been dating this senior boy for a few months; well their one year anniversary is coming. Dating Do Kyungsoo is a challenge for him. Dating a boy with flat expression is taking his patience. It’s not that he is annoyed with him, no, Jongin loves him too much. But sometimes Kyungsoo acts as if he is dating Jongin just out of pity. For God’s sake, the boy is practically begging to be his boyfriend.
Dating Do Kyungsoo means patience and Jongin has run out of that thing. He needs Kyungsoo to prove his love for him and at least, just a bit, show his jealousy when Jongin is with someone else. Doesn’t he have any feeling or anger?
“I don’t think he loves me.” Jongin mutters dejectedly, playing with his fork. Sehun stares in disgust at the sticky spaghetti sauce in Jongin’s plate.
“Kyungsoo loves you. You are just too blind to see that.” Baekhyun mutters between his bread.
“He doesn’t even get jealous! Not even once!” Jongin exclaims, slamming the plastic fork down and rubbing his face in annoyance.
Jongdae scoffs behind his kimbab, muttering a ‘stupid’ just for him to hear.
Jongin grumbles into the table, not caring that there is dried tomato sauce on the table surface just beside his head. The door to the lunch room is opened and comes Kyungsoo walking in. Jongin’s eyes lit up and he grabs onto Baekhyun’s arm. “Kyungsoo is coming! Hurry up and help me!”
“Help you with what?” He mutters, putting down his bread. Jongin glances at Kyungsoo who is standing behind the line for the lunch, head whirring for an idea.
“Um. Kiss me! Kiss me and let him see that!”
“What? You are crazy! I don’t want to do that!” Baekhyun exclaims, suddenly imagining the wrath of Do Kyungsoo. No, no, he still loves his life. Do Kyungsoo might be cute when he smiles but he is the child of evil when he is angry. Baekhyun still loves his parents, his puppy, his boyfriend, his eyeliner—
Jongin whines and shakes his arm. “Fine, I will do it by myself!”
Before anyone could understand what he does mean, Jongin leans forward and kisses Baekhyun on his cheek. The others are gaping in surprise when they glance at Kyungsoo who stops by their table, hands holding onto a tray of lunch.
The time is ticking and Baekhyun feels himself pales. To God up there and to my guardian angel, if you are not on your lunch break, please do tell my mom and dad that I love them, tell my puppy that Chanyeol will take care of him, tell Chanyeol that I love him and I’m sorry for the years of going after me—
“Oh. You are busy. I will just sit somewhere else.” Kyungsoo mutters flatly, before turning on his heels and walks away.
Everyone gaps in surprise. Sehun completely pales despite his pale complexion and Jongdae is holding back himself from snorting out loud at the epic expression on Baekhyun’s face.
Sitting down to his seat, Jongin slumps down on the table and groans; simply missing the way the plastic fork breaks into half in Kyungsoo’s fisted palm.
“I need to do something more than this.” He mutters.
“Jongin, you are crazy.”
Glancing at the boy on the small wooden stairs which is holding himself up while rearranging the books on the shelf, Jongin grins.
“Joonmyun hyung, do you need help?”
The said boy stops reaching up for a book and smiles. “Hey, Jongin! Nice to see you here! When was the last time you get into the library?”
Jongin winces at the innocent question; it feels like an insult but he decides to ignore it this time. He has a better plan.
“Uh, I decide to visit you and I think you need help with these books.”
“How kind of you, Jongin-ah! Sure, sure, I really need help! You know with my short body, it’s hard for me to put the books back into the shelves!”
“Let me, hyung.”
Jongin exchanges place with Joonmyun and with a quick glance at the library door, Jongin takes the books Joonmyun is giving him. “You know, hyung, you are so great for maintaining the library all by yourself.”
Blushing at the compliment, Joonmyun rubs the back of his neck in nervousness. “Well, I like doing this so this is not a really hard work. Everyone will do something that they like sincerely, right.”
“Still, when I see you putting those books on the shelf just now,” Jongin stops, side glancing at his boyfriend standing on the corner of the library, visibly watching them interact, he continues, “I think you are so cool, hyung. You know how people say you are the most attractive when you are concentrating? I think that sentence fits you the most, hyung!”
Joonmyun blinks in surprise at his words but still shyly thanks him for the compliment. “Well, duh, thanks, I guess.”
Jongin grins dazzlingly at him, but when he sees Kyungsoo just grabs a book from one shelf and gives it to the one standing behind the librarian desk, he sighs.
Kyungsoo hands the librarian his library card and the person asks him why his card is crumpled like this; as if it was being squeezed to death.
Jongin knows just what time Kyungsoo is usually to visit him in the dance room. He has a new plan for the day.
“Lay hyung, the competition is coming up, right?” Jongin opens a conversation while watching the other male dances lightly in front of the mirror.
“Yes. I can’t wait any longer!” He exclaims.
“You know,” Jongin glances at the clock, just a minute more, “there is still a few moves I still don’t get, hyung. Do you mind to help me?”
“It’s okay!” Lay smiles, all rainbows and butterflies being his background and Jongin winces at the innocent male. He is all happy and positive, he kind of feel bad for using him like this.
“This one, hyung,” Jongin stands in front of the mirror and makes a gesture swinging his hips to left and right. “And the part of this,” he places his palm over his mouth and bringing his index finger forward to swing it along the rhythm with his hips.
“Oh, oh, that one!” Lay grins, moving to his side to show him the exact movement. Jongin knows the moves; he even loves that part so much. He just needs some reason to do his plan.
He acts all innocent and oblivious; hell he is sure Lay will never realize anything. There a soft click from the door and Jongin jolts in surprise, time for my plan!
“I still don’t get it, hyung! Do I move my hips like this? Or how? Can you show me properly, like guide me or something?” He begs and Lay is just too happy to help.
“Of course! Here, let me hold you,” he grips onto Jongin’s hips and moves them right and left while standing right behind him. Jongin grins inwardly, muahaha see that, Soo!
The gap between the door and the wall is gone and Jongin only realizes that Kyungsoo is no longer peeking there. He doesn’t know whether Kyungsoo is really watching or just what.
Does that mean he fails again?
Sighing, Jongin continues to thank Lay for his dancing guide and chats a bit with him, followed with some laughter; completely not listening to the sound of mineral water being thrown into the trash can. And there is also some snacks though in the can.
“Minseok hyung! Let’s play!” Jongin grins widely, holding up a soccer ball over his head. Minseok’s eyes begin to glimmer in excitement and in an instant; they are heading towards the soccer field.
Kyungsoo and the others have the tendency to sit by the bleachers and watch those who want to play. The time shows that it’s four in the evening and Jongin is having his fun with Minseok and a few others.
“Jongin, shoot it! Shoot it!” Minseok shouts to him, kicking the ball towards him.
Jongin steals a glance to the bleacher and sees his boyfriend sitting there, still with his flat expression. He thinks of stopping on his plan but there’s just a part in him that is so determined to prove that Kyungsoo is indeed in love with him.
Kicking the ball pass the goalpost and watching it rolling in, Minseok runs towards him and jumps up. Jongin laughs loudly in pride and holds his hands under Minseok who is currently clinging like a koala to him, due to his over-excitement to be the first team to score a goal.
“Jongin, you are the best!” Minseok cheers, pecking Jongin’s forehead in the overexcited-act the soccer players usually have.
Jongin grins thankfully and steals a glance back towards the bleachers, finding Kyungsoo is gone and the only thing remains on his previous seat is his yellow towel that he usually will give to Jongin once the game is over.
Kyungsoo doesn’t even answer his call that evening.
Jongin is having a slight problem with his math homework and he usually will ask for Kyungsoo’s help. But since they are still in the ‘weird’ atmosphere, Jongin decides to just ask for Jongdae’s help. That kid might look creepy but he sure is looking like a nerd as well.
“Hyung, help me with my math?” Jongin gives him a puppy eyes look and Jongdae blinks in a boring manner at that.
“Don’t give me that look. I’m immune to that.”
Pouting, Jongin drapes his body over the table and begins whining like a kid.
“Hyung, hyung, hyung~!”
“Stop trying to grab people’s attention on you. It sucks.” Jongdae mutters from behind his muffin.
“Help me and I will stop!”
Sighing dramatically, Jongdae grabs his book and reads the problem.
“This is like... the easiest problem ever.” Jongdae comments, lifting an eyebrow at him. Jongin grins apologetically, “I might or might not... paying attention in the class?” followed by a ‘piece’ mark he makes with his fingers.
“Give me your pencil, kid.”
Jongin shoves the whole three pencils and two pens into Jongdae’s hand and the older boy is staring skeptically at that. He begins to explain the problem in a bored manner and Jongin is paying so much attention; he doesn’t want to fail in math again; that he doesn’t notice Kyungsoo standing a few meters from them, books in his hands.
Jongdae gives him back the pencil and tells him to screw away and to not disturb him anymore. Jongin blinks his eyes in happiness; Jongdae’s explanation is way better than his teacher. He leans over the table and hugs him tight, murmuring just how happy he is to have a teacher like Jongdae, before he is being pushed away by an overly-annoyed Jongdae to the floor.
Jongin is too busy laughing at Jongdae’s act to even realize that Kyungsoo is walking away, a scowl is prominent on his face.
Everyone knows just how tall Chanyeol is and no one is able to compete with his height. Jongin and Sehun might be just those bastards who love to joke around with him.
“I’m taller than you, hyung!” Sehun mutters, standing proudly on his toes and grinning. Chanyeol fakes an offended expression and begins to stand on his toes as well.
“I’m still taller than you, stupid!”
Jongin joins by climbing up the plastic chair and he hums proudly. “I’m taller than you two!”
The other are just staring, thinking just how childish the three of them.
“No fair! You get down here, Jongin!” Sehun mutters, getting back to his heels. Climbing down from the chair, Jongin pushes Sehun away and stands chest-to-chest with Chanyeol.
“Let’s see who’s taller between us,” Jongin challenges with a goofy grin on his face. Chanyeol is sure he is still the tallest and begins to puff his chest out. “Stay back, Jongin! I will always be the winner!”
Jongin bumps his chest forward and ignores him.
They both stare into each other’s eyes before breaking into a loud laughter. They cling to one another while laughing their ass off; this time laughing about Sehun who is still sitting on the floor due to Jongin’s push before.
Chanyeol is hanging over him, hugging him tight while laughing his ass off, hand hitting Jongin’s back. Jongin is too tired of laughing and feeling too in pain from Chanyeol’s continuous hitting than to realize that Kyungsoo’s face is no longer in the form of laughing like before. It seems... sad?
It’s their lunch time again and Sehun is sipping on his yogurt, face empty of anything. He is just that flat, yes. Everyone is as bored as him.
Vacation days are just two weeks ahead and there’s no one who wants to stay here any longer. Jongin stops blowing air to his bangs and groans.
“I need something to entertain me. Sehun, go do something funny!”
Sehun ends up only staring at him with a look that says ‘I-don’t-want-to-talk-to-you-so-don’t-talk-to-me’ clearly on his face. Jongin turns his attention away from his, after rolling his eyes, to the others who are busying themselves to play around with their lunch.
But, hey, where’s Kyungsoo?
That little adorable boy, yes? Jongin’s lovely boyfriend?
No one knows? No?
Jongin grabs onto Baekhyun’s hand (the other starts to think that Jongin is having initiating on killing him because God knows just how much Baekhyun treasures his life so don’t touch him if you don’t want Kyungsoo to attack him mercilessly) and starts to question.
“Where’s Kyungsoo?”
Rolling his eyes, Baekhyun swats his hand away. “How should I know? You are his boyfriend, not me!”
“You are in almost all of his classes!”
“I don’t have any tracker planted on him, I’m sorry, Jongin!” He answers sarcastically. Jongin pouts and grabs back his juice, sipping a bit before throwing his self forward against the table.
“Something’s wrong with Kyungsoo...”
“Whaaa chuu yooo miiin?” Chanyeol asks from between his munching on his sandwich, before getting a hit on the back of his head from his boyfriend and another round of scolding of talking with foods in your mouth.
Jongin watches him wipes the mayonnaise away with his sleeve. “Excuse me?”
“What do you mean?” Baekhyun repeats the word. He seems to be the only translator for the giant. Chanyeol’s eyes beam at him.
“He is avoiding me these few days. I don’t know why.” Jongin grumbles.
Jongdae stares at him skeptically. “You sure you don’t know? Hey, how did your plan of kissing Baekhyun at that time go? Did it success?”
Before Jongin could open his mouth, he needs to close his eyes first from the burst of mayonnaise and some other green things from Chanyeol’s mouth across his face. Fuck the giant.
“You did what? You kissed my Baek-Baek? How could you, Jongin!? I thought we are friend? How could you d—”
“Stop being so overly dramatic, Park.” Jongdae mutters. Baekhyun stares at the giants with his arms crossed in front of his chest, muttering ‘if you don’t shut your mouth now, you won’t have any of it for the week’ which makes Chanyeol zips up his lips in a second.
“I can answer now?” Jongin asks. They nod.
“Uh, it’s... as you can see at that time, nothing happens. He says nothing and does nothing. I did some things to test it after that but—”
“You plan some things similar to that?”
“Well, not to that extreme but—”
“I don’t want to hear your excuse, Kim. You should stop before Kyungsoo explodes.”
Jongin pouts and sighs. “Oh, my life...”
He leans against Sehun who is silent for the whole time and fakes a sobbing against his shoulder. The youngest makes no move to remove him and just continues to stare blankly through his half-lidded eyes. Something’s wrong with this youngest kid, Jongin just knows it.
Despite his fake crying and fake-ugly-sobbing, Jongin feels the harsh nudge on his elbow. He tips his chin questioningly at Baekhyun who is gesturing at something behind him, panic in his eyes.
“Jongin, you would want to see this! Hurry!”
He then quickly twists his neck (he is sure he hears some cracks) and finds the sight of Kyungsoo’s back; the boy walking fast to leave the lunch room.
“Where is he going?” Jongin asks dumbly.
There’s a hard hit on his head and Jongin is afraid he might get a concussion if this happens continuously.
“What are you waiting for? Go after him!”
“Um, okay?” Jongin sends them a questioning smile before slipping away to follow his boyfriend.
Jongin is sure his boyfriend is in the restroom but why is he scared to enter the damn place?
“Soo?” Jongin calls while pushing the door open. There he is, his boyfriend. Kyungsoo is leaning against the sink, fists white from the tight grip he is having and staring at the reflection of Jongin entering the restroom from the mirror in front of him.
“What do you want.” He answers coldly and Jongin shivers. He doesn’t remember his boyfriend being this cold.
“Why are you leaving? You are not joining us?”
“Why do you care.” Kyungsoo mutters, glancing away from him.
Jongin scratches his head in confusion. Something is really wrong with Kyungsoo.
“What’s wrong, babe?”
It feels like the last strike for Kyungsoo before he explodes and pushes Jongin away on his chest. The latter stumbles backwards and watches his boyfriend through his wide eyes.
“S-Soo?”
“Don’t you ‘Soo’ me! Go away!”
“S-Soo, what’s wrong?” Jongin takes a step forward but backs away immediately when Kyungsoo lifts a hand up. Everyone knows his boyfriend hits the hardest.
“Everything’s wrong!”
Kyungsoo has this weird aura surrounding him and Jongin gulps his saliva. This doesn’t seem good to be continued...
“You,” Kyungsoo starts, index finger pointing towards him, “if you want to break up with me, just say it. Be a man and say it directly to my face.”
Jongin gapes in surprise. “W-Why would I break up with you!?”
“Well, I don’t know! Maybe because you have found yourself some new boys who are more attractive than a single grumpy boy with wide eyes?”
“Soo!?” Jongin steps forward and is about to retort back when he freezes.
Holy Mother of—
Oh God.
His boyfriend is crying.
His Kyungsoo is crying.
There’s this miserable look on his pale face and he has his usually-huge eyes squeezed close. Overall, it’s like a little child sobbing to his mom scolding him for stealing some of the candies from the kitchen. It’s incredibly cute.
Kyungsoo parts his lips and begins to speak through his quivering lips,
“I don’t know what it is, but I’m sure everything’s my fault. I know I’m ugly and I’m short and my eyes are too big sometimes and then I talk like a grumpy old man and I’m not a good boyfriend to you. You may don’t like me anymore but I still remember your confession on Sehun’s birthday party last year and if it no longer in your head then it’s fine. If I’m really that boring, you can just say it directly to my face and ends everything, instead of flirting with everyone in front of me!” He spats out, all tears and saliva spurting out. He is just that annoyed, yes.
Jongin watches as tears are continuously scrolling down Kyungsoo’s cheeks. Oh God, even when he is crying, he is so adorable...
“You let me see you kiss Baekhyun,
and then you go all that sweet-talk to Joonmyun hyung,
and you pull your freaking playboy trick on someone as innocent as Lay hyung!
I know just how overacting Minseok hyung can be when he is playing soccer but do you really have to let him hug you that intimate?
I don’t even know why you are seeking Jongdae for homework when I clearly am smarter than him, except if you really like him to hug him and mutter just how happy you are to have someone to explain it kindly to you!
You are stupid but I don’t think your stupidity will cause me to be hurting to see you playing that ‘tall’ game with Chanyeol the giant!
And then you just have to lean on Sehun that flat brat that intimate, why don’t you just go date him then!?”
Jongin gapes at the facts. Kyungsoo sees everything. He even pinpoints one by one.
So his boyfriend does care for him.
“Okay, so,” Kyungsoo continues after wiping some of the tears away but to no avail the new ones are scrolling down again; his voice changes from his crying, “we are over, okay? You can go to your boyfriends and I’m just going to stay alone for the rest of my school life, watching you flirting with them and holding those feelings in my chest just because I love you so much and I’m so fucking jealous with everything! Well, not that you know about that, you are too fucking busy flirting...”
There. He says it.
Kyungsoo is jealous.
OH MY GOD. KYUNGSOO IS LIKE SERIOUSLY FREAKING JEALOUS FOR REAL.
Grabbing the smaller boy before he can move away, Jongin hugs him tight to his chest, lips spreading in a wide smile. Fuck, he is so happy.
“Soo, you don’t know how happy I am right now!”
“Yeah, sure. Who doesn’t feel happy when their ugly ex-boyfriend just ends everything with them?” Kyungsoo spats, pushing him away but maybe Jongin is just a bit stronger than him.
“No! That’s not what I’m happy about! It’s about you!”
Kyungsoo is about to retort again when Jongin growls and pecks him on his lips. It silences Kyungsoo instantly. Maybe he should have kissed him in the first place. But then he won’t be able to know what he is thinking all this time.
“Okay, to clarify everything, first: I’m not flirting with the guys, okay? Second: I want to see you feel jealous. Third: I still remember my confession to you! I did it in Sehun’s parents’ room and then you puked all over my face because of the drinks! Fourth: I don’t want to break up with you! Why should I? And the last but not the least, I love you very much, baby, I will be so stupid if we break up!”
Kyungsoo grips onto Jongin’s shirt and sniffs, his cute nose moving ever so slightly, making him look like a little fragile bunny. Jongin holds himself back from squealing; this is not the right time.
“R-Really?” He mutters, wide eyes full with unshed tears.
“Yes!” Jongin nods his head, determined to tell his boyfriend the truth.
“You don’t like them more than you like me?” Kyungsoo blinks; a single naughty teardrop escapes from the corner of his eyes.
“Yes, they are no fun! I only like you!” Jongin breathes, cooing inwardly at how cute his little boyfriend is.
“And you still love me?” He whispers out that part, insecurity hits him like a ton of bricks.
“With all my heart, Soo!” Jongin hits his chest with his fist.
“And you just want to see me jealous?” His tone changes drastically and Jongin is just too oblivious to notice that.
“Yes!” He exclaims in all smile.
“So you act in front of me all this time?” Kyungsoo asks again, eyes free from tears.
“Yeah—” Jongin stumbles back from the sudden, unexpected hit.
“Fuck you!” Kyungsoo punches him over his jaw. Jongin lets out a pained groan and backs away, watching his boyfriend’s chest heaving up and down.
“You are making me feel like a criminal for wanting to kill each one of them and then you are just playing with my feelings!?” Kyungsoo barks, face red in anger.
“No, baby!” Jongin reaches his hand to him. Kyungsoo twists it away against his back and Jongin groans in pain, now feeling like a real criminal being held by a policeman by force.
The smaller boy takes a deep breath before looking right into his eyes; their reflection on the mirror is showing Jongin just how serious his boyfriend is right now.
“No ‘baby’-ing me. No touching me. No hugging. No kissing. And more importantly, you won’t have it for a month!” He hisses into his ear before releasing him with a harsh push forward.
“NO!!!!!” Jongin moans desperately, hands reaching to grab him. Kyungsoo lets out a ‘hmph’ at him before turning on his heels and walks out from the bathroom. Jongin sobs while watching his boyfriend’s bottom jiggles everytime he steps forward.
A month without that...
So much for jealousy, Kim Jongin. He should have not done anything at the first place.
