Indestructible Chap. 5 : Taemin

Summary: Jinki and Jonghyun got hurt because of him. Minho and Taemin left because of him. What was the use of living for Kibum? There was nothing left to him. Or that was what he used to think until four people that he loved the most were coming back. This was a story of broken friendship between five young boys who tried to mend the bond once again.

Chapter 5: Taemin



He was still so young when his Jinki hyung told him that they got a new friend. Jinki hyung brought him out from his room, little feet walking along the hallway.

Taemin met Kibum and he smiled, chubby fingers grabbing onto Kibum’s shirt protectively. Kibum hyung was so pretty and Taemin liked him a lot. Jinki hyung told him that Kibum was his other hyung other than Minho hyung and Jonghyun hyung.

Kibum treated him like a real kid. The people in his mansion treated him like a jewel; there couldn’t be a scratch on his body. His own parents treated him like he was invisible. Maybe because he was still a little kid.

Taemin liked Kibum hyung because when he smiled, his cheeks would go up and the dimples were showing. He loved to poke the dimples, getting a loud giggle from Kibum hyung. He also heard his other hyungs laughed when he did that, and Taemin loved when his hyung were laughing happily.

He had this close relationship with Kibum. Taemin was practically raised by his four hyungs, but Kibum and Jinki did the best parts. Jinki was his big, real hyung and he could always depend on him. Taemin sometimes felt guilty when Jinki had to finish some problems that he caused, but when Jinki would smile, patting his head lovingly and said that everything was fine, Taemin would grin and whispered that he loved him. Jinki would whisper and said the same thing.

Kibum hyung treated him like he was his son. Maybe because Kibum took care of himself that he grew up so matured. Taemin felt like calling him ‘mom’ sometimes. Kibum hyung was the best in nagging. He still couldn’t shut him up when he had started nag at them. Not even with his aegyo.

Jonghyun hyung was more like a dad to him. Jinki hyung was having a more ‘dad’ image on him but Jonghyun hyung surely did treat him like a son as well. Taemin knew Jonghyun hyung had a different feeling for Kibum hyung, maybe that was why he would act like a dad when Kibum hyung acted like a mom.

Minho hyung was this dependable brother. He was kind and polite, and he was also smart. Taemin learned a lot from him. Minho told him what to do and what not to do. He told him what was right and what was wrong. He played the protective hyung and Taemin liked him because of that. Minho hyung often told him that even though some things were wrong for other people, but when you saw it right, then why didn’t you go for it?

They grew up together, Taemin knew everything about them. He knew that Jinki hyung sometimes snored in his sleep. He knew that Jonghyun hyung stared at Kibum hyung longer that he should have. He knew Kibum hyung loved watching girl’s dramas when they were not with him. He knew that Minho hyung loved playing soccer even though his family forbade him to.

Taemin couldn’t imagine what his life would be if he didn’t have his hyungs.



He messaged Kibum hyung to get him his desirable banana milk, as he was planning to come to Kibum hyung’s place after school that day. He had been craving for that drink and Taemin was going to go crazy if he didn’t have it.

Minho hyung had messaged him that he would pick him up from school today. Taemin waited in front of the school, eyes looking here and there as to why Minho hyung still hadn’t come by this time.

The familiar car was coming at least. He watched as Minho hyung got out from the car, smiling weirdly and that was when Taemin knew that something was wrong. He heard Minho hyung telling him to calm down before breaking out the news for him. Taemin felt his energy left him before he cried, asking for Minho to bring him where Jinki hyung was.

He ran into the hospital, not giving a shit about the nurse who was glaring at him. The only thing in his mind was Jinki hyung. He spotted Jonghyun hyung with his head bent low, Kibum hyung crying in the corner helplessly.

If Kibum hyung was the person with the most tears, then Taemin was the second.

He wasted no time to hug Kibum hyung, crying with him. Taemin heard Kibum hyung mumbled the ‘my fault’ to him but Taemin ignored him. He needed the warmth from Kibum hyung right now. He just needed reassuring that Jinki hyung was going to be fine.

When his mother hit Kibum hyung across his face and called him a ‘bad luck’, Taemin wanted to scream. His real mother hit his imaginary mom whom he loved more right in front of his eyes. She had no right to do that.

Kibum hyung hung his head low, not saying anything to defend himself. He watched as Jonghyun hyung quickly got up and hugged him close, not letting his mother to get anymore close to hurt Kibum hyung again.

When the doctor said that Jinki hyung was still alive and in coma, Taemin felt the burden was leaving him a bit. At least Jinki hyung was still breathing. That was what he believed right at the moment.

Jonghyun hyung and Kibum hyung were nowhere to be found when they got to see Jinki hyung. He called Jonghyun hyung and the older male said about, “Kibum is in danger! Your mom did it!” before ending the call.

Taemin was smart enough to connect the words, he knew that. Even though he didn’t want to believe that, his mother herself said the words about beating Kibum hyung up since he was the cause of the accident.

Minho hyung told him to stay put as he would go and find them. Taemin could only pray that no one else was hurt.

But boy, he was wrong. Minho hyung came back, with the unconscious Jonghyun hyung and Kibum hyung and Taemin cried again. Blood was everywhere on their clothes. Jonghyun hyung’s parents got there, his mother went hysteric of the state of her son.

He felt like screaming in anger. Three of his hyungs were hurt.

The doctor told them that Jonghyun hyung’s head was hit quite hard and he suffered the brain injury because of the hard hit. Kibum hyung woke up after a few hours, crying to himself again when Minho hyung told him the news.

Taemin watched as both his mother and Jonghyun hyung’s mother came up to Kibum hyung, pulling him away from Jonghyun hyung’s bed. They called him bad luck, filth, and so many bad words. They kept on saying that they shouldn’t let their son to be friend with him and told the security to throw him out.

Minho tried to defend him, but the security held him before he could stop the other. Taemin was on the same state, with his mother’s people holding onto him. Kibum hyung did not struggle at that and that was what made Taemin mad. He kept on blaming himself for that, Taemin hated that.
