1990.
When the Great King Kim Jongmoo passed away at his old age, the nation was in sorrow, crying over the decease of the kind and wise leader of the nation. The country needed the new King sooner before any bad things could happen and it was the duty of the oldest son of the previous King to take the position.
Kim Jongmin stood on his spot, with the elder putting the King diadem on his head. The elders and ministers smiled wisely at the sight; hands clapping to celebrate the ceremony.
Everyone was happy. Everyone was enjoying the day where they had the new King to lead the nation. The previous King’s oldest son was known as a kind man with wide view, but also known as someone too soft-hearted and it caused some part of people to dislike him. His brother, however, was a strong man with big desire to take control about almost everything and a great man to some people who thought that strong-headed was needed in life.
The coronation party was held. The second son of the previous King, Prince Kim Jongdeok was having a talk with a group of officials and some important people who were invited to the coronation.
“I’m going to write and show good things in the news tomorrow! Just trust me!” The soon-to-be CEO of the Lee Media Corporation, Lee Taegoon spoke. The officials and the party members laughed at that and soon began to chat about political things.
The King Kim Jongmin greeted the people who congratulated him with handshake, thanking their attendance and their trust on him. Beside him, stood the most trusted man and also his best friend, the Minister of the Defense, Choi Minhyuk. People wondered as to how the soft-hearted King was able to befriend someone as straight, as calm, as stiff, as him. They were polar-opposite, but maybe that made them best friend and that was one of the reasons on why Minister Choi Minhyuk was such a loyal person who always stood behind King Kim Jongmin.
Everyone knew just how the political was divided into two parties. The South Party and the North Party. The South Party was led by Prince Kim Jongdeok and the North Party was led by the King Kim Jongmin, with his right hand, Minister Choi Minhyuk.
The new King was in the middle of a relaxing conversation with one of the ministers when from the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of someone familiar moving closer to him. He smiled and greeted him almost immediately.
“General Lee,” he called and the said General gave him a polite bow, eyes crinkling in the corners before congratulating him for the coronation.
General Lee, or more likely Lee Jinwook, was one of the best soldiers the nation had. He was a trustworthy person and everyone adored him.
A few meters from there, stood the Princess of the nation, Princess Kim Jungah. She stopped listening to her assistant for a bit when she heard her brother greeted the General. She glanced at him, eyes locked on the tall yet relaxed posture of the General. The said man seemed to catch her eyes before he smiled at her and the Princess smiled back at him, all flustered and all.
The musicians had started another song and the King Kim Jongmin excused himself to take his wife for a dance. The officials laughed at that.
General Lee stepped closer to the youngest of the Royal siblings, smiling kindly.
“May I have this dance, Princess Jungah?”
She was flustered but nodded nonetheless.
At the same year, they developed a steady relationship and everyone blessed them because they were such a nice couple. General Lee was kind and handsome and such a gentle man, whereas Princess Jungah was a beautiful lady with gentle smile and soft voice and wise thinking.
They got married by the end of the year.
At the news of their wedding, Minister Choi Minhyuk found himself in a broken heart state. He had a big one-sided love towards the Princess yet he could do nothing to stop them. As long as the Princess was happy, he could endure everything.
Choi Minhyuk decided to close his single status by marrying one of the daughters of the officials from the North Party. It was his duty to keep the Party steady.
2 years later (1992).
General Lee Jinwook and Princess Kim Jungah got a beautiful son with eyes resembled the moon and smile resembled the sun. They named him Lee Jinki. He was such a sweetheart and they loved him more than anything.
At the same year, Minister Choi Minhyuk got a newborn son as well from her marriage with the daughter of the official, Go Hyomin. Their son was named Choi Minho and everyone knew just how the boy would grow up not different from his father; straight, stiff, and loyal.
The second Prince of the nation, Prince Kim Jongdeok decided to tie the knot on the same year with a beautiful lady from the important official from the South Party. Lady Han Jungeun was adored by the people around her because of her beauty and gracefulness.
Everything seemed to be moving nice along the way.
4 years later (1996).
The whole nation was shaken by the sudden news of the death of the current King Kim Jongmin and the Queen Park Sohee. Every single person in the nation was crying over their death. They were reported to be caught in the car accident and resulting their life right on the spot.
Or that was what it was reported.
The nation couldn’t lose its leader at time like this so the only Royal family left was the second Prince Kim Jongdeok. He was getting on the throne and was declared as the newest King of the nation.
General Lee Jinwook felt something was off. There was just something really fishy was going on even though he didn’t know yet what it was and he tried to find it. It was just way too weird.
He had started an investigation of the case.
1 year later (1997).
The five-year-old little boy of the Lee family was staring questioningly at his mother, when she, the Princess of the nation, Princess Kim Jungah cried her eyes out at the moment the palace attendant came bearing the news of her husband, General Lee Jinwook had passed away. General Lee was reported to be killed during a mission at the conflicted area.
At the same year, the nation was celebrating the birth of the Crown Prince of the country. The King Kim Jongdeok nodded his head while watching his first son cried, and he named him Kim Jonghyun.
1 year later (1998).
Princess Kim Jungah coughed blood all over her handkerchief, body feeling weak on each day. She was still grieving over the death of her husband, the deceased General Lee. Her six-year-old boy was looking at her worriedly, fingers grabbing onto her jacket. She smiled at him and muttered that she loved him no matter what happened.
Lee Jinki lost his mother at the age of six and he was left all alone.
Minister Choi Minhyuk was devastated when he knew Princess Kim Jungah had already passed away. He knew something was fishy for years and he tried to find out about it. Something that had caused the death of the deceased King Kim Jongmin, the death of General Lee Jinwook, and the cause of the grieving of the deceased Princess Kim Jungah.
When Minister Choi was speculating about who was the master mind behind all of this oddness, the Palace was out with the news of the King Kim Jongdeok who was holding a press conference.
The King Kim Jongdeok said: “With our deepest regret, we have found the person who is behind all of these. We have been silent for all the time, but because this has taken the toll on the Royal family, such as my brother and my brother-in-law, we think this is the right time to speak up. I feel very sad; my brother was a very great man. I will continue his aspiration and make this country better for the future.”
The villain behind all of these was the leader of one powerful underground group.
1999-2014.
Everything went out well. The nation was peaceful and the people admired their leader.
That was, until the nation was shaken with the news of the Crown Prince Jonghyun who was about to choose his spouse.
And that was where the story began.
