Summary: After getting into a steady relationship and discovering their mutual feelings for each other, fate says the other way and there are people who are trying to untangle their bond. How do they are going to overcome all the problems now?
Being a Choi is not that extravagant as you think. It means that you have to obey every rule and every condition, you have to hold back yourself from making a mistake or you won’t be able to live without feeling embarrassment for the rest of your life.
But then again, being a Choi is not a choice.
Choi Minho has never requested to be born as a Choi.
He has been raised as the perfect son. He has to obey every rule his family has, he has to respect his parents and the elders, and he also has to make a great achievement to show everyone that he is a real Choi.
His father is a great man. Minho knows it all too well.
His father, Choi Minhyuk, is one of the loyal men standing for the honesty in politics. His mother, Go Hyomin, is one of the women in the whole country who got such respect and support from people.
And Minho –
He still has long way for that.
For getting the respect.
For getting the support.
Not only from the people.
But at least, he wants to get that from his father.
Minho has always been a quiet child. He doesn’t get spoiled, he doesn’t whine, he doesn’t cry.
He tries his best to act just like his father; stiff, silent, loyal, and trusted.
He does everything to meet up with the expectation. He does everything people tells him to do and he finishes everything with the perfect end.
Ever since he is a child, Minho has found something a bit weird in his family.
Choi Minhyuk is his father; but he does not favor him.
He wonders what his father is thinking, because not even once he has complimented him for every single thing he does well.
It’s always Jinki.
That man is his father; but the one being treated like his son is no other than Lee Jinki.
His father has never showed him a sincere smile. Everything is forced and stiff, like he is seeing his own just as an object, just as an heir. But when he is with Lee Jinki, he changes. He smiles, he laughs, and he compliments him.
What is it that Jinki has and Minho does not have?
Minho remembers he always stares from behind the wall, gripping onto his story books. His father will always play with Jinki only and not him.
Sure, Lee Jinki is a nice boy. He is kind-hearted and his smile resembles the sun. He never fails to make people smile just by seeing him.
But not for Minho.
He despises him.
Minho despises him.
Lee Jinki takes everything from him.
His father, his family, his affection.
Maybe because he is part of the royal family. Maybe because he is trusted. Maybe because he is worthy. Maybe because he is smart. Maybe because he is reliable.
But Minho is smart.
He ranks the first in all of his classes. He never forgets his home works. He never skips a class. He never talks back to the teachers. He never cheats in the exams. He never fails his tests.
He never does anything wrong.
Jinki steps into the minister place in a young age. Everyone coos and feels proud of him. He is smart, very smart and he is everyone’s favorite kid.
Minho knows he will be one of the ministers soon, but Jinki always grabs the first chance.
He always gets the second.
He always becomes the secondary.
His father claps and smiles proudly when Jinki becomes the minister. He tells him everything about knowledge in the ministry.
His father nods and gives him a quick pat on his shoulder when it’s his turn to be the minister. He tells him to do well and to not fail him.
Yes, father. Minho responses.
Jinki never says badly to him, never acts bad to him, never treats him wrong, but Minho knows he knows he doesn’t like him.
He steals his father and his affection away from him.
Minho has to do everything on his own.
He envies Lee Jinki.
The Crown Prince is born in the royalty and being raised in full affection, getting attention from millions of people in the whole country.
He has the perfect life. He has his parents. He has his sibling. He has his friends. He has his people. He has the future crown. He has his freedom.
He could even choose his own way.
Kim Jonghyun is his name.
Minho wonders why such a kid could be treated very different from the way he is being treated.
That Crown Prince gets to choose his spouse.
And he chooses a normal person.
It’s… absurd.
Minho doesn’t know what it is in the Crown Prince’s mind. He should have chosen someone worthy enough to stand beside him. Someone from the same level, from the same
background.
But… a mere young boy?
He still couldn’t believe it when he attends the wedding between the Crown Prince and his spouse, filling the place of his father who is not feeling well at the moment.
He sees the Crown Prince smiles. In happiness. With his spouse.
It’s weird, because Minho doesn’t recall himself ever smile that way. All the smiles he has ever formed are business manner.
He envies Kim Jonghyun.
It’s certainly absurd.
At first, he doesn’t really pay attention. He doesn’t really pay any attention to unimportant things, but it’s hard to ignore it.
The Crown Prince’s spouse.
He is interesting. Very, very interesting.
He is loud and unique. He is cheerful and scandalous.
He is just… everything Minho longs to have in his life.
He sees him playing basketball in the court alone for a couple of times. Minho always finds the boy playing there with a smile on his face, as he himself is getting the documents ready in his office.
It’s weird but it’s refreshing. Just the mere presence of the boy is so refreshing that Minho doesn’t know how to react.
It’s too refreshing that it scares him.
Kim Kibum.
His name is too common. His appearance is too common. He is just a common boy.
But he manages to steal Minho’s attention. He distracts Minho from his dull life, from his affection-lacked life, from his ambition to have his father’s attention wholly on him.
He is a very good distraction.
And Minho falls for it.
Minho doesn’t know what overcomes him but the moment he sees Kim Kibum crying under the rain in the center of the basketball court, he comes right away with an umbrella in his hand.
The face Kim Kibum makes once he finds him shielding him from the rain is missed completely as all Minho could focus on is the fact that he is crying and that he is leaning on him.
He can hear the grunts and cries Kim Kibum lets out and the sounds are hurtful, as if Minho could understand what he has been going through. He understands very well of the fact that you don’t have someone you can lean on to.
The Crown Prince walks towards them and Minho thinks he has lost his mind when he embraces Kim Kibum right in front of the royal.
It hurts; his face. The Crown Prince could punch well, he knows that fact now.
But it’s simply worth it when he has Kim Kibum dabbing the wound with the cotton. All he could focus on is the frowns lining on Kim Kibum’s face and not the stinging pain when the alcohol meets his opened wound.
He knows about the scandal. But he doesn’t think Kim Kibum would be that stupid to even cheat and then go brag about it for the whole world to see.
Maybe it’s just the Crown Prince is too stupid to even see the obvious fact.
Kim Kibum is filling his whole mind and Minho starts to like this distraction.
It has been a few days and Minho couldn’t find that little boy anywhere. It’s like he is avoiding him.
Hissing in annoyance, Minho slams the papers down to his desk as he couldn’t find any concentration coming to him. That boy is haunting his mind.
Then he walks very close to his office. Minho could see him. He could see that he enters the library and then coming out in another minutes. He could see that there are no longer frowns marring his face and that he is smiling as he greets the other officials lounging around the study area.
Minho walks out from his office, following the little boy towards the direction of the basketball court.
He comes right away towards him, grabbing his wrist and spinning him around, hissing on his face about how he is obviously avoiding him.
And Kim Kibum has the nerve to lie to him.
The Crown Prince arrives and Minho has completely gone insane.
He kisses Kim Kibum.
And it hurts; his face.
But this time, he manages to land a punch across the royal’s face just because he thinks this is the way for him to defend himself.
The guards are holding him back as he snarls at the Crown Prince and also the fact that Kim Kibum is standing by the royal’s side this time and no longer helping him like before. Does that mean they both have make up and solve all the problems between them?
He doesn’t like this. Minho doesn’t like this.
“Don’t even dream of it.” The Crown Prince whispers to him, tone dangerously low and threatening, as if he was not afraid to him.
Minho glares at him and struggles in the guards hold, attempting to attack the royal once again just because he despises whatever he is talking about.
The Crown Prince grabs his spouse by the hand and drags him away from the area.
Minho curses in his mind as he stares at the way those hands holding tight onto each other.
How is the feeling to hold someone else’s hand?
He has never felt it before.
And he despises the image before his eyes.
Because it’s disturbingly pretty.
The image is too pretty.
Dream?
Huh.
It’s not a dream.
Choi Minho will make sure it turns into reality and not to remain as a dream.
And he will make sure that the previous image won’t be pretty anymore.
He will crush the image and make it to his liking.
Because he is a Choi.
A Choi is stiff, silent, loyal, and trusted.
But being a Choi is also hard-headed.
And by being a Choi, he finishes everything with the perfect end.
