Summary: After getting into a steady relationship and discovering their mutual feelings for each other, fate says the other way and there are people who are trying to untangle their bond. How do they are going to overcome all the problems now?

“Kibum! Kibum, open the door!” Jinki hyung knocks on the door to his room and Kibum steps outside questioningly.

“Hyung, what’s wrong?”

“Where were you last night?” Jinki asks, voice all serious and stern. Kibum steps back in surprise.

“Hyung –”

“Answer me. Did you go out or did you not?” He asks silently.

Kibum gulps and reluctantly nods his head.

Jinki sighs, rubbing his face with his palms. “What have you done, Kibum?”

“What’s going on, hyung?” Kibum furrows his eyebrows in confusion. Jinki sends him an unreadable look.

“You still don’t know? You haven’t seen the news all over the internet?” He asks worriedly. Kibum blinks his eyes and shakes his head no.

The older male hands him his phone and tells him to read it.

Kibum starts reading the headlines and widens his eyes in shock; he pales in no second.

“H- Hyung, how – I don’t – I mean this is –”

“You don’t know, Kibum? Paparazzi caught the two of you last night and this is what happened. The palace officials call me repeatedly and ask me for an explanation for this scandal.” Jinki mutters while massaging his head.

“Hyung, w-what should I do? I- I mean –”

“I need you to calm down for now, Kibum. Maybe you can try calling Lee Taemin as well.”

Kibum scrambles to grab his phone and finds that it has died from any battery. No wonder he knows nothing about the news. Biting down his lip, Kibum quickly charges it and waits for it to light up, only to flinch in surprise at the buzzing from numerous text messages and missed calls.

Most of them are from Jonghyun and from Taemin though.

He skips Jonghyun’s name for this time, opting to call Taemin directly and to talk to him.

“Taemin,” he whispers into the phone as soon as the other answers his call.

“Let’s meet up. I will come to your room in a moment.”

Kibum hums, listening to Taemin ending the call. He glances at Jinki hyung and tells him that Taemin will be coming here soon. Jinki tells him to make it quick to avoid any more talk from people around them.

“What’s happening?” Kibum asks as soon as Taemin gets to the room he is staying. Jinki hyung has left to give them time to talk.

“Paparazzi had been following us last night. I’m sorry, Kibum, I should have been more careful.” He says, tone full of sorry.

Kibum bites his nails in nervousness.

“You can calm down a bit though,” Taemin starts again. “I’m going back in an hour to clear this problem. I have called my father for his help to hold a press conference. I will clear everything.”

“Taemin, I’m sorry that this romantic scandal has to happen between us. I mean, this should not have happened and we could clearly avoid getting involved in thing like this, yet –”

“I don’t mind this.” Taemin mutters to him, looking straight into his eyes.

Kibum stops. “Excuse me?”

“I don’t mind getting involved in this scandal with you.”

“Taemin –”

“I,” he cuts Kibum off, “I’m attracted to you, really. Not lying.”

Kibum gaps in surprise and grips onto his phone. “But Taemin, I’m –”

“Married, I know. I know exactly the fact, well, duh, I was there on your wedding,” he tries to joke, yet it brings no smile to Kibum’s face, “I know, Kibum. I know I have no chance because you seem to really love the Crown Prince.”

Kibum glances down to his fingers and he bites back a groan. Why should everything be so difficult?

“Let’s just say, I’m over you. It was just a mere crush and I used to be attracted to you. Done.”

“I’m sorry, Taemin, about everything.” Kibum mutters softly, not really sure why he is apologizing but he just feels like doing it.

Taemin chuckles and slaps him lightly on his arm. “Why are you being the one to apologize?”

“Can we… stay as friends?” Kibum asks, glancing up to him. Taemin gives him one offended look. “Of course. Is that really how you see me?” He asks jokingly.

Kibum forces a smile as he sees Taemin’s grin.

“Nah,” the other boy stands up, straightening his coat, “I should be going if I didn’t want to be late for my flight. You just enjoy your time here until it’s time for you to go back home and I will get back first to clear every misunderstanding. Let’s just hope my father won’t kill me.” He says with a light laugh.

Kibum pulls him into one tight hug.

“Thank you.”

“No prob’, friend.”

Kibum walks back and forth in the room he is staying. Their flight is still in the evening and he can’t help but feels really nervous for the whole situation.

He wants to call Jonghyun; just to hear his voice, to explain the whole ordeal to him, to know what he is thinking, to know what he should be doing.

His phone suddenly rings and he scrambles to the bed, grabbing the device into his hand.

“Jonghyun?!”

“Where are you?” The Crown Prince asks straightly. Kibum feels a part of his heart swoons just by hearing his voice, yet another part of it dies a little with the lack of greeting from him.

“I’m still here. We –”

“You don’t even try to get back here as soon as possible? Do you know how chaotic the country is right now?” Jonghyun demands. Kibum gaps at his accusing tone.

“Jonghyun? Our flight is the one at the evening, it’s not like I want to stay here any longer!”

“You don’t even call me! You seem to be having so much fun there without me, huh? Do you like it better there rather than staying here with me?” His tone is accusing and he sounds so hurt and everything.

“Jonghyun! What are you talking about?” Kibum shrieks in disbelief because his spouse has the nerve to accuse him of thinking like that. There’s the sound of scoffing from Jonghyun.

“You like being in the centre of the news like that? With making scandal with someone other than your spouse?”

“Kim Jonghyun! How dare you! This is a misunderstanding!”

“You sound much too calm to be in a misunderstanding.” He spits out.

Kibum has a mind of ending the call. “You can’t be saying shit like that about me! You don’t know the situation in my brain!”

“Of course I don’t, you don’t even tell me!”

“Look, Jonghyun,” Kibum winces as he massages his temple, “I can explain. This is not like what it looks. Jinki hyung and me are wai –”

“I don’t know why I should listen to this.”

Then Jonghyun ends the call abruptly without saying anything else. Kibum gaps in shock at his act and tries to call him again but to no avail, he won’t answer.

He knows just how chaotic the country could be right now; even from this foreign country, Kibum could imagine enough. His mind is chaotic enough.

He also knows just how jealous Jonghyun could be; hell, he would be in the same position if he were him. But should he really act that cold towards him? It’s not even entirely his fault!

“Kibum? Can I get in now?” Jinki hyung asks from outside. Kibum hums at him and the older male gets inside, closing the door behind him.

“Hyung, how’s it at home?” He asks carefully, rubbing his tired eyes.

“The palace is holding a press conference. No matter what, they have to protect the royal family’s name.”

Kibum sighs and groans softly, the sound muffled by his palms.

“Kibum, were you talking to Jonghyun just now?” He asks, sitting down beside him.

“I- we – yes.” He whispers tiredly. “He sounds so angry and accusing.”

“I can’t say that it’s okay, because it’s not. This is, however, still part of your fault, Kibum.”

Kibum nods his head. “I know.”

“You should remember,” Jinki whispers, “that you are no longer a normal civilian. You are the Crown Prince’s spouse now and everyone is watching your movement. You cannot make any wrong move. You cannot make any mistake. You can’t be going out and enjoy your life like before. Everything is so different now. You should have known it by now, Kibum.”

“I know, hyung.” He mutters dejectedly.

Jinki watches him and sighs, patting Kibum on his shoulder.

“You should try to get some rest. I will wake you up for our flight back. Okay?” He says gently and Kibum nods obediently. He can’t even think straight now.

Kibum goes onto the bed and lies down with a loud sigh. Jinki pats his head before walking out of the room, not before stealing one more glance at Kibum’s worried face.

Taemin sends a text message to him, telling him that the problem is all cleared up by now and he can go sleep tightly.

Kibum hears at Jinki hyung telling him that the palace has done with the press conference and the country has stopped talking so much about it.

They drive towards the airport for their flight and Kibum is afraid of what will happen once he gets home. How should he face Jonghyun after their fight?

He has tried calling Jonghyun numerous times but he is not answering to his calls. He tries again once just before they get into the private plane, yet it goes unaswered.

“Kibum, you okay?” Jinki asks as they buckled up on the plane. Kibum sends him one forced smile and he nods his head.

“Yes, hyung.”

Jinki stares at his face, opening his mouth to try to cheer him up, yet he finds nothing to say because he doesn’t know what to say.

“Just… don’t worry about it. Everything will be alright.” He mutters.

Kibum shakes his head bitterly. “I don’t think so, hyung.”

Jinki watches his face goes sad and angry again and he could only watch from the side.

The usual smile is gone, the worried wrinkles appear on his temple, the lips form a frown, those fingers are fidgety, and his appearance is just that different from his usual self.

It pulls some strings in his chest to see Kibum’s sad face and it brings him in panic; panic because he is thinking hard on how to make Kibum smile again.

Jinki grips onto his fist, eyes glancing everywhere before they finally settle on Kibum entirely, sure and stern.

“Kibum.”

The younger male glances at him, waiting for his next words.

The young minister opens his mouth, throat goes dry all of sudden.

“Kibum,”

“Hyung?” Kibum calls questioningly.

“Kibum, I like you.”

Kibum’s eyes go wide and he sits stiffly on his seat.

“H-Hyung?”

“Kibum, I like you.” Jinki repeats, as if to assure Kibum and also to assure himself about what he is saying.

“I like you and if I were Jonghyun, I would never make you sad or even cry. I will always make you happy.” He declares.

Kibum looks so shocked and he couldn’t even say anything.

“J-Jinki hyung, Jonghyun and I –”

“I know and I don’t care,” Jinki mutters to him.

“Hyung –!”

“I won’t do anything to disappoint you and I will make sure to make you the happiest man all over the world.”

Kibum parts his lips to talk, “J-Jinki hyung –”

Jinki stares at him firmly. He sends Kibum one smile.

There’s a determined look in his eyes before he speaks, “I am going to steal you from Jonghyun.”
