When you asked Kim Jongin about what would be the best thing in his life, the he would answer: Do Kyungsoo.
Being a playboy ever since in middle schools, Jongin thought that maybe he could finally find someone proper to date on college and maybe finally settle down with one person for a long term relationship.
Jongin didn’t really think about it though when he first stepped his feet in the college. He just let fate led him to that proper someone. Then he met Do Kyungsoo, that wide-eyed boy from his music history class.
The first intention was just to make more friends with him, but Jongin found himself drowned into that luring smile and shining eyes. He ended up shutting down his mind for any rational words and just leapt forward to kiss him on his lips. The moment Kyungsoo was staring at him in surprise when he kissed him that first time and then asked him to be his boyfriend was probably one of the thrilling moments in Jongin’s life.
Kyungsoo kissed him back on his lips and Jongin felt like finding that proper someone, finally.
They went out, so in love like any other couples out there. Jongin became too attached to his boyfriend, but Kyungsoo didn’t seem to mind it. Instead he laughed it away and then he gave Jongin that blowing kiss that left him dazed for a moment.
Kyungsoo supported his choice of career and his hobby. Kyungsoo waited for him o nights to cuddle him and to listen to his whines about how sore his legs were after the hard dance training, and then Kyungsoo would simply told him to lie down and massaged his thighs with those skillful fingers.
Jongin loved his boyfriend to death. He loved the way Kyungsoo’s crinkled eyes when he smiled, the way his lips formed that perfect heart shape when he laughed, the way his wide eyes went even wider when he was surprise, the way he yelped when he stole a kiss, and the way he gasped Jongin’s name when he made love to him.
To Jongin, Kyungsoo was his home.
Old habits die hard.
Jongin found himself stuck in the situation of flirting back with a girl which he didn’t even think pretty or attractive, it was just, flirting was in his nature and Jongin couldn’t do anything to stop it. It just felt like his mouth had its own mind to reply the flirty words the girl shot him, and then it brought him down.
Kyungsoo saw the girl kissed him on the cheek and Jongin backed away when the girl’s lips touched his skin. It felt disgusting. The only one who could do that was only Kyungsoo.
His boyfriend locked himself in their bedroom and Jongin knocked on the door, scratching it like a sad puppy. He tried to explain himself but Kyungsoo didn’t seem to want to listen to him, so Jongin let him calm down for a while.
He explained everything as soon as Kyungsoo was out of the room, hugging him close and tight and telling him that he didn’t do anything with that girl and that he had to admit that he was only replying on her flirty words, but Jongin swore that he didn’t even like that girl even a bit.
Kyungsoo forgave him and Jongin felt relief washing over him. The last thing he needed from Kyungsoo was him breaking up with him.
After they were finishing college, Jongin stared in amusement when Kyungsoo jumped up to him, telling him that he got a job at that local singing class for kids. Watching Kyungsoo getting along with children, it made Jongin wanted to have their own children in the future.
He applied for the auditions in the entertainment, and to his surprise, he got accepted. Kyungsoo peppered kisses all over his face at the great news.
Jongin knew the risk of getting into entertainment world; that they wouldn’t be able to meet that often and that Jongin had to stay in the dorm. Kyungsoo ruffles his hair lovingly, whispering that it was okay and he would still love him and that they still could call once in a while.
Right?
Staying at the dorm was so lonely for Jongin. Sure, he had the money now and all that things, but without Kyungsoo in his arms, it felt empty. He often nagged about it to Kyungsoo when they got on the phone; listening to his boyfriend’s voice through the line only was not enough.
The time he anticipated the most was when he was able to get back home and as soon as his gaze landed on the sight of his little boyfriend, Jongin scooped him into his arms and kissing the living daylights out of him. After that, hearing Kyungsoo’s laughter melted every burden in Jongin’s mind.
He had to get back to dorm and that was when the company told him that they wanted a super change for him. From that gentle looking boy, he was going to make a comeback with that black and cold concept. Okay, sure, fine, then what? Jongin thought.
His phone was taken away during training and practicing and the only time he could touch his phone was when he got back to dorm. He was barely able to unlock the screen before he dozed off on his bed, still in his training shirt and shoes.
Jongin went mad when he knew just how many unanswered messages and calls. His manager had the nerve to touch his phone and rejected every single call from his boyfriend, and not even telling him. He hated that man so much.
By the time he was able to reply to Kyungsoo’s message was when he sprained his wrist from the overtraining right two days before his comeback day and was only able to type the short ‘I’m fine and busy’ to him. Jongin bit his lip in nervousness; he hoped Kyungsoo wouldn’t be mad at him.
After a while, he got that free time that he loved the most. He texted his boyfriend about his coming home thing and he was giddy for the whole time. Jongin bought every single food that he knew Kyungsoo would enjoy. The both of them had the same taste in food.
His manager was being a fucktard, preventing him from driving all the way to home with reasons of paparazzi and all. He refused to drive him and Jongin held himself back from punching the man square on his nose. After much yelling and arguing, the man admitted on defeat and drove him. And he was late by two hours.
Kyungsoo greeted him silently when he came back. He thought it might be because he was overwhelmed after seeing him again after these months. Jongin unpacked all the food and dragged his boyfriend to eat, mouth blabbering stories about gossips around the company.
His heart stopped when he saw Kyungsoo’s faint trail of tear and with a dread feeling, Jongin cradled his face in his palms, asking him what the matter was. Kyungsoo sent him a small smile and whispered just how happy he was to meet him again.
Jongin felt something was still off with his boyfriend.
They settled down on their bed and Jongin relished on the soft scent from his boyfriend. He wanted to cuddle Kyungsoo but his boyfriend covered himself with the covers and refused to get closer to him.
Kyungsoo questioned him about that dating rumor.
Jongin felt himself paled and dread filling his heart. So that was why. He had heard about the news; he didn’t know where had the news come out, he himself didn’t know that girl that well. They were caught up chatting in one of the practice room and some people talked about how they looked together.
He quickly explained to Kyungsoo, heart beating so fast out of his control and he feared that Kyungsoo would want to break up with him. He wiped those silent tears away and Kyungsoo glanced away from him.
It broke Jongin’s heart that he had hurt his beloved this way. He should have paid more attention to his own boyfriend than to argue with that stupid of his manager all the time. He swore, he swore to Kyungsoo that he only loved him and that he had nothing with that underage girl.
Kyungsoo said nothing but only nodded his head and let Jongin hugged him. Jongin felt so bad now. He couldn’t just tell his boyfriend that his manager abducted his phone for the whole time he couldn’t reply to his messages or even to call him back. Kyungsoo would be so mad.
Jongin treated him like a king for the next day, spoiling him to make up to all of his mistakes. Kyungsoo smiled at the end of the day and Jongin breathed out in relief to be able to pull that smile again.
He worshipped his boyfriend at that night, not forgetting to tell him continuously on how pretty he was. Kyungsoo breathed heavily through his mouth, pulling him for a messy kiss and whispered his love into his mouth. Jongin embraced him close and hoped that he was able to pour all of his feelings for Kyungsoo.
Kyungsoo told him to come back home soon when he was about to go. Jongin nodded and promised him. Another promise, there was a voice in his mind. Jongin felt like a person full of promises. He felt bad.
They got to the good term again, with Kyungsoo calling him and sending him his selcas after that one time Jongin sent him one old photo of his, where Kyungsoo was pressed close towards the camera and he smiled widely, all heart-shaped and shiny teeth. Jongin sighed dreamily at that and it took him in surprise when Kyungsoo had sent him a new one, with the cutest smile ever and eyes beaming.
Jongin called him, telling him just how cute he was and he could hear the shy mutters from the other line. He put it as his phone background immediately.
He got busy again with preparation for comeback, charity events, and reality shows to attend. Jongin smiled to the cameras, lips felt like ripped from the over-forced smiling for hours. He was so tired.
Jongin got a call from Kyungsoo at the night, and his exhaustion was lifted the moment he heard Kyungsoo’s happy voice telling him how was his day and how happy he was with his new part time job.
He just hoped they could stay like this forever.
But fate said the other way; Jongin found the familiar girl waving at him by the door of the practice room. He squint his eyes, brain working to remember who she was.
Ah, she was the one who flirted with him before.
Jongin forced a smile as she ran up to him, muttering how long has it been since the last time we met and yadda yadda, he barely listened to her. He backed away, sending a helpless glance to his manager but the older male shrugged at him. That bastard.
She nagged at him, asking him about his doing and telling him just how great he was to be such a famous superstar. Jongin had to listen to her high-pitched voice and brought her to the other rooms as the part of the tour, seeing that she had entered the same company as him. No wonder he met her here.
They hung out like friends with other people, and it was not like Jongin enjoyed it. He remembered his manager’s words: you have the reputation to keep, so just hang around the rookie girl for a while.
It was not like he was ignoring Kyungsoo.
After Jongin had managed to escape from her at the second week after her arrival, Jongin was forced to practice. He got a world tour coming up and a repackage album featuring his friend, Taemin, and because it was related with two stars, the practices were harder.
His phone was abducted again by his manager and he hissed at him, telling him to give him back his phone. His manager pushed him on his head, telling him to go the fuck away and practice, you ungrateful kid.
He was forced to practice and to not contact anyone outside the company; because she had the nerve to talk around the TV stations about how close she was with Jongin. People began to speculate again.
Jongin had tried to borrow Taemin’s phone to call Kyungsoo, but the manager just happened to know everytime he tried to sneak out and do something.
He got his phone back in a few weeks and quickly sent a message to his boyfriend to explain himself, hoping Kyungsoo wouldn’t be so mad at him and he added his selca, smiling to the camera with beaming eyes.
Jongin caught the sight of her with his manager at one day, and they were talking so suspiciously, weird even. He saw her holding onto his phone and did something; Jongin was about to go there and spat at her for touching his belonging without permission, but he was held up by the producer for a vocal training.
He just hoped nothing bad happened. She better did nothing.
His world tour was done today and he sighed into the bed in his hotel room. He would be back tomorrow and he just couldn’t wait to get his free time again. His abducted phone was back; Jongin jolted up in surprise. He hadn’t seen Kyungsoo’s messaged for like forever.
Scrambling up to his bag by the corner of the room, Jongin rummaged the inside and found it dead. He charged it and sat down, waiting it to light up before multiple messages and unanswered calls notifications buzzed in. All of them were from Kyungsoo.
Jongin felt giddy. His boyfriend seemed to miss him so much.
The last voice message was from earlier morning though. Jongin held up the device to his ear and listened:
“Let’s stop everything, Jongin-ah.”
His heart skipped a beat and his fingers froze. What was Kyungsoo talking about? Stop what?
He listened to the other voice messages, hearing Kyungsoo’s voice of asking his condition, his doing, nagging about his day, everything was still fine. What the fuck was going on here?
Jongin packed his things and put on his clothes, before scrambling away from his hotel room. Screw with his manager; he didn’t care.
He tried calling Kyungsoo, but his boyfriend was not answering them. His messages were also not replied. Something was wrong, but Jongin didn’t know what it was.
He booked the plane ticket, feeling relief there was still available in time like this. It was half an hour to midnight and he couldn’t wait any longer.
Jongin arrived back in the morning, pulling up his hoodie and mask to cover his identity before stopping a taxi and told the driver his address. He gripped his fists, heart beating out of control at the thought of Kyungsoo ending their relationship.
He ran all the way to the apartment, their apartment and knocked on the door furiously. He could hear Kyungsoo’s voice shouting from the inside ‘go away, Baek, I’m sick and I’m not going out anytime soon’. Jongin went frantic at the thought of Kyungsoo falling sick and he rapped his fists on the door repeatedly.
The door was unlocked and Kyungsoo’s face appeared, “Baekhyun, I’m not—”
“Soo!” Jongin whispered in panic when he saw the swollen, nasty blue on his boyfriend’s face. And what was it with his lips?
“What are you doing here?” Kyungsoo asked him, eyes went blank. Jongin forced his way in and cradled the other’s face.
“What’s going on? Soo, what happened to you? Are you hurt anywhere else?”
Kyungsoo pushed him away and took a proper gap from him. “Go away.”
“What’s going on? Please tell me—”
“Oh now you want to know?” Kyungsoo hissed at him, facial went angry. Jongin tried to hug him but he stepped back again, holding a palm up.
“Please go away when I still talk nicely.”
“Kyungsoo, what is going on?” Jongin felt tears brimmed in his eyes as he stared at his own boyfriend taking steps away from him. Kyungsoo sighed loudly and spoke, “We are over, Jongin, so please, just leave.”
“Why—What happened?! We are not over, Kyungsoo! Explain to me so that I can understand!” Jongin barked, feeling frustrated. His boyfriend kept silent and shook his head.
“Nothing. Just go.”
Jongin tried to argue but Kyungsoo had the strength and pushed him out, slamming the door to his face. Jongin knocked again and got ignored. He felt like crying. What the hell was going on here?
He ran towards where he knew Kyungsoo was working and tried to find Baekhyun. At least someone should have an explanation for him.
Baekhyun’s eyes went rigid when he saw him. He grabbed him by his wrist and pulled him out towards the secluded parking area.
“What the fuck are you doing here? What do you want now?” He spat. Jongin begged him to tell him what was going on because his mind was turning over with confusion and he didn’t know what to do.
Baekhyun had his fingers on his collar, eyes burning in anger. “You fucker! How dare you act this way? Go back to your girlfriend and leave Kyungsoo alone!”
“What are you talking about?” Jongin shrieked. He had no girlfriend! He only had a boyfriend and that was Kyungsoo! What girl—
Realization hit Jongin and he growled. “What the fuck did she do?! That bitch!”
Baekhyun’s grip on him loosened and he took a step back. “You didn’t know?”
“What did she do? I’m going to kill here!” Jongin snapped. Baekhyun stared at his fuming face, contemplating his honesty. “You are not fucking her?”
“What the fuck are you talking about? Why would I?”
“I don’t know, maybe because you enjoy being with her so much and you ignore Kyungsoo for such a long time?” Baekhyun spoke sarcastically. Jongin grabbed at his hair and groaned. “My manager took my phone away, for God’s sake! I know nothing!”
“You are not lying?”
“Why the fuck should I?” He barked.
Baekhyun stared at him for a few seconds before sighing tiredly. Then he told him how she came to Kyungsoo and sprouting nonsense, hurting him in the process, both physically and mentally.
Jongin was about to fly over to the company building and kill her when Baekhyun stopped him, reminding him to not act reckless.
Jongin cried on the bed, locking himself up in a hotel room. Kyungsoo wouldn’t even open the door for him and he had nowhere to go. He turned off his phone, knowing that bastard of his manager would try to call him. He wouldn’t want to meet anyone right now.
It took him a few days of begging in front of their used-to-be shared apartment and he had no answer from Kyungsoo. Baekhyun informed him that day when he came up to meet him, that Kyungsoo was going out of the apartment and meeting up with someone. Jongin grabbed his cap and ran along the way, eyes frantically trying to find his boyfriend.
He was not going to hand his boyfriend to someone. Jongin loved him too much to give up.
An hour passed and Jongin still hadn’t a clue on where Kyungsoo might be. He had the thought of turning his phone on and called Baekhyun for help, but then a sight caught his eyes.
There he was, his Kyungsoo. There was also a man, someone else, trying to kiss his Kyungsoo. Jongin saw red and he ran forward, grabbing Kyungsoo forcefully on his hand and pulling him away from there.
He felt Kyungsoo trying to release his hand from his grip, but Jongin was not having any of it. He pulled him away to a secluded place, far from people’s eyes to talk. They needed to talk.
“What do you think you are doing?” Kyungsoo snapped at him, eyes full of questions and also pain. Jongin held onto his face and Kyungsoo struggled to step away.
“Don’t touch me.”
“Kyungsoo, listen to me!”
“I said do not touch me!” He spat, a palm landing on Jongin’s cheek.
Jongin closed his eyes from the stinging pain; Kyungsoo had felt things more horrible than this. If Kyungsoo would want to hit him, beat him to death, and then it was fine.
“I have warned you before,” Kyungsoo whispered under his breathe, chest heaving up and down and eyes full with unshed tears. Jongin sent him a look to ask him to listen and for them to talk.
“We are over, Jongin. What part of it that you don’t understand?” He muttered before turning around on his heels and made a move to walk away. Jongin grabbed his palm, staring at him hopefully.
“But you are still wearing the ring, Soo.” He whispered softly, touching the band around his finger. It was the ring they got after their first anniversary. Kyungsoo glanced at the ring around his own finger before staring at Jongin’s hand.
“But you are not. Stop it, Jongin. Let’s stop everything here.”
He walked away before Jongin could even stop him.
“I have the ring,” Jongin whispered into the silence air, feeling the cold metal wrapped with the necklace around his neck.
Jongin cried, clutching onto his fists, and feeling his nails digging into his palms. There was no way he would let Kyungsoo go. At least not like this; where everything was full with misunderstanding and miscommunication.
He ran to find the male again, feeling his heart beating so fast it felt like jumping out of his chest. This was his last chance. Please, please, let it work. Please give me back my Kyungsoo.
Jongin ran up to Kyungsoo, watching the shorter male’s back got smaller on each closer step he took. He lifted his cap and put it on Kyungsoo’s head, turning him around and kissed him on his lips.
He barely heard the gasps from people around him, recognizing him as the famous star they often saw on the TV. Kyungsoo yelped in surprise, fingers gripping onto Jongin’s jacket tightly. Jongin leaned back a bit, tears spilling out his eyes as he begged pitifully.
“Please, don’t leave me, Soo. I love you so much.” He whispered. Kyungsoo was pulled into his chest, and Jongin was shielding him from the people snapping their cameras. He could care less if it was him who was exposed, but he wouldn’t let anyone touch Kyungsoo.
He felt Kyungsoo wrapped his arms around his waist and Jongin felt that it was enough.
Kyungsoo smiled bitterly at the crying Jongin on the bed, wailing and spilling everything out and swearing that he loved him so much. He grabbed onto Kyungsoo’s hand tightly, telling him that he only loved him, he was his only one, over and over again and that he was sorry for all the things he had done to him.
He told him that she was no one, and that Jongin didn’t even have the thought of cheating and he begged him to not leave him. Jongin choked on his tears, ignoring Kyungsoo’s soft words of telling him to stop crying. He couldn’t say that; Kyungsoo himself was crying so what was so wrong about crying like a kid?
Jongin told him everything; from his manager’s behavior, his stolen phone, and the bad things that woman did to them. He vowed to Kyungsoo to please believe him or he could beat him to death if he had lied to him.
Kyungsoo grabbed him by his cheeks and pressed a kiss to his dry lips to stop him from talking. Jongin stared at him with swollen, puffy eyes and Kyungsoo let out a breathless laugh at that.
He told Jongin that he was also sorry for being an emotional jerk and for misunderstanding him when he was so busy with his job. Jongin cried again when he apologized and Kyungsoo had to kiss him again to stop him from crying.
Jongin told him to never apologize because everything was his fault. If only he could he braver before, everything like this wouldn’t happen. He begged for Kyungsoo to please keep him and never leave him, Jongin swore he would never look at someone else. He had always loved him for all this time and he promised to love him forever.
Kyungsoo laughed against his lips and nodded his head; now being the one who was making promises for Jongin.
He questioned Jongin about what he had thought for exposing himself in the public like that. Jongin muttered that he would rather lose his job than to lose the love of his life. Kyungsoo stared at him proudly before kissing him softly on his lips.
The news spread around so fast and pictures and videos of Jongin kissed someone mysterious in the crowded street were flooding the internet. Jongin ignored the consequence and kept his phone dead. Kyungsoo told him to be brave and face it.
Jongin told the company that he was in a relationship for years and that they could kick him out of the company if they didn’t want it. He wouldn’t care about it. The company told him to do the press conference and to clear the rumors.
He told the public that he had been dating for years and he was sorry for his fans, but he was not sorry for being in love.
Jongin came up to that woman to talk and she acted all innocent. He glared at her hatefully, telling her to stop her act and he would never want to see her again. He smiled in a sinister way, threatening her that if she had ever thought about ruining his relationship again, he wouldn’t hold back to destroy her.
Kyungsoo scolded him for threatening someone else when he told him about that. Jongin argued that she had hurt him and he was kind enough to even let her pass this. Kyungsoo glared at him but when Jongin easily kissed him on his lips, it successfully shut him up.
Jongin hugged Kyungsoo close in his sleep, murmuring how in love he was with him and how beautiful he was and how sorry he was for being such a coward jerk. Kyungsoo muttered a sorry as well for not being able to stand for himself and not trusting Jongin enough when he had promised him to do so.
Kyungsoo got on top of him to kiss his lips softly and Jongin had the tears in his eyes. He was becoming such a crybaby for the past few weeks. Kyungsoo laughed and wiped it away, pressing a kiss on each of the lids.
Jongin made love to him slowly that night, never stopping to tell him just how lucky he was and how happy he was. Kyungsoo embraced him close, pulling him down to him and whispered his name in ecstasy, completely forgetting everything. Jongin was filling all of his senses.
Kyungsoo made a promise with himself to stop being so insecure about everything and to listen and to trust Jongin above everything. Jongin promised him a happy life and a better self in the future; and it was the only promise that Kyungsoo loved the most.
Jongin loved his boyfriend so much that he gave him a new ring, one that was promising very much for their future as spouses. Kyungsoo cried and watched as Jongin took of the old one and changed it with the new; brighter, prettier, better, and full of promises.
Life might lead them to the wrong way sometimes, but they had promised to stay strong for each other and to never break anymore promises.
A/N: The last chapter is up. Hope you enjoy it. I was debating whether I should make it a happy ending or sad ending. My first plan was happy ending (I'm a sucker for happy ending, sorry not sorry), but even though some people wanted bad ending or anything other than happy ending, I couldn't help myself, I love them too much lol
Hope you enjoy it~
Thanks for reading and hope you can tell me what you think about this! Thank you! :D
